What happens
- Each import becomes one chat.
- Rift writes story notes from the whole history.
- You can continue immediately.
- Use "New chat from here" to branch and try different directions.
Limits
Up to 2,000 messages per import and 20 imports a day.
Privacy
Imports are private to you; nothing from an imported chat is shown publicly.
Questions
Can I import my Character.AI chats into another app?
Yes. Rift Universe reads the official Character.AI export ZIP, CAI Tools downloads and pasted chat text, and turns each one into a chat you can continue.
Will my characters remember my story after importing?
Rift writes story notes from the whole imported history and sends the recent messages with every reply, so the character picks up where you left off.
What happens to my Character.AI characters if the company is sold?
A buyer is expected around late November or early December, and nobody outside the sale knows yet what a new owner will change. Exporting now gives you a copy of your chats and characters whatever happens.
Does Rift Universe cost anything?
No. Importing and chatting are free, and story memory isn't behind a paywall. RiftPass is an optional upgrade.
Is Rift Universe 18+?
Yes. Rift Universe is for adults: mature themes and romance, but not explicit.
