Terms of Service

Rift Universe is strictly for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. By signing up you confirm that you are 18 or older. You are responsible for your account, keeping your sign-in secure, and all activity under it.

Rift Universe is a work of fiction. Characters and their replies are generated by artificial intelligence and are simulated. They may be inaccurate, unexpected or inappropriate, and are not professional, medical, legal, financial or emotional advice. Characters are not real people and do not represent real people.

You may use the replies generated in your chats for personal purposes; we don't claim ownership of them.

You must not create, request or share content that:

• depicts, sexualizes or involves minors, or characters described as under 18 — this is strictly prohibited;
• involves non-consensual sexual content about real people, or impersonates real individuals;
• promotes terrorism, self-harm, or real-world violence or illegal activity;
• harasses, threatens or abuses other users, including in comments;
• infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or privacy (including uploaded photos you don't have rights to).

You can flag any message. We may remove content, unpublish characters, or suspend accounts that break these rules.

You keep ownership of the characters, text and images you create. By publishing a character to the community, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute and let other users chat with it within Rift Universe, and to show previews of it when shared. You can unpublish at any time.

The same applies to worlds, lorebooks and personas you create. By importing chats, character cards or lorebooks from other apps, you confirm you have the right to use that content on Rift.

Removal requests. Characters on Rift are created by users. If you are a rights holder or a person depicted and want a character removed, email us at rift.app.support@gmail.com and we will take it down.

Free accounts get unlimited messages. During very heavy use, replies may take a little longer. Aura are a virtual item used inside Rift Universe (for example Snapshots). Aura have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, transferred or sold, and are not refundable once used, except where required by law. Aura from refunded or disputed payments are removed.

Creator milestone rewards are paid in Aura only. We may withhold or reverse rewards obtained through fake accounts, automation or other abuse.

We may send story emails and push notifications to bring you back to a story. Turn them off any time in Profile → Notifications or with the unsubscribe link in any email.

Story memory is included free on every plan. Rift Plus is offered at $4.99 per month, and RiftPass at $9.99 per month or $69.99 per year, as shown at checkout (plus any applicable tax). If you upgrade from Rift Plus to RiftPass, Stripe shows the prorated amount due before you confirm. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from Profile → Manage subscription; your plan remains active until the end of the paid period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we don't provide partial-period refunds. We may change prices with advance notice before your next renewal.

Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

You may stop using Rift Universe at any time. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Unused Aura are forfeited on termination for violations.

We respond to notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe content on Rift infringes your copyright, email rift.app.support@gmail.com with: the work you believe is infringed; where the content appears on Rift; your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you're the rights holder or authorized to act for them; and your signature. We remove infringing content and may terminate repeat infringers.

Rift Universe is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Missouri, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights that apply where you live.

We may update these Terms. If changes are significant, we'll notify you in the app. Continuing to use Rift Universe means you accept the updated Terms.
