How do I tell the character who I am?
Open the ⋯ menu in any chat and tap "Who you are (persona)". Add your name, your pronouns and a few lines about you, and the character will use them from your next message. You can save personas on your Profile, and your default one fills in on every new chat.
Can anyone else see my chats?
No. Your chats are private to you. The people who make characters can't see your conversations with them. Only you can export or delete them.
Why are replies long or short, and how do I change it?
You choose the reply pace. Open the ⋯ menu in a chat and pick Quick texting, Balanced or Full scenes. Your choice is saved for all your chats.
Does the character remember things?
Yes. Each chat keeps story notes, and you can edit the "Story so far" yourself. Pin a message to make it something the character never forgets. Free accounts remember your last 40 messages; RiftPass remembers 150.
What's a Boost?
A Boost reruns one reply on our smartest model for a richer answer. You get 1 a day for free, or 100 a month with RiftPass.
What are voice, Snapshots and Aura?
Voice: tap play on a reply to hear it read aloud, with 1 free a day. Snapshots: a picture of the current scene, for 20 Aura. Aura comes from daily check-ins and the shop.
Can I bring my characters and chats from another app?
Yes. You can import character cards from TavernAI, SillyTavern or Chub, bring a chat over from another app and keep going, and import lorebooks too.
How do I make a character?
Tap Create. Describe them in one sentence and tap Draft it, or fill in the form yourself. Choose Community to share them with everyone, or Personal to keep them to yourself.
What is RiftPass, and what's free?
Free: unlimited messages, long replies, memory, making characters and imports. RiftPass adds deeper memory, 100 Boosts a month, voice, Snapshots and scenes with up to 4 characters, for $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year. You can cancel anytime from your Profile.
Is Rift for adults?
Yes, Rift is for people 18 and over only. Mature themes are allowed, and explicit moments fade to black. No minors and no real people.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile and tap Delete account. Everything is removed: your chats, characters and account.
How do I report a character or get help?
Use the report button on a character's page. You can also email rift.app.support@gmail.com or visit r/RiftUniverse.
