By now, those of us who are Blizzard fans are pretty used to rolling our eyes at the strange and silly puns and pop culture references crammed into World of Warcraft. I just recently redid the Krasarang quests on my phlegm-spinning Monk (she’s an undead Mistweaver– it totally makes sense) and boy, there was some eye rolling to be had when the “Took an arrow to the knee” reference came up. I’d almost forgotten about that one. No such luck. Sometimes there’s simply no escaping the puntastic.
Good news, friends! There are more pop culture references planned for Warlords of Draenor (as if you had any doubts)! One of the most recent datamined bits of info uncovered one pop culture figure who, well, has one super important thing to say about all this: “Hodor”.
Yep, that’s right. We’re getting an NPC named Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor in Game of Thrones. We don’t know whether he’ll be a quest NPC or what he’ll look like just yet (my Photoshop skills in the header image are awesome), but from the looks of Wowhead, he’s going to sound like a human male and have the ability to transform into a worgen. We also know one thing he’ll say! You can bet there will be a “Hodor” somewhere in there.
Fun bit of trivia: Kristian Nairn is a huge fan of World of Warcraft and other MMORPGs. Yeah, he’s one of us! He’s even played RIFT and is a fan of Rift Junkies on Twitter. Pretty cool, right?
